2008-12-30 [Artsieladie]: Just curious... is this contest going to be closed or extended? ;P
2008-12-30 [Hedda]: I put up an alarm now, I we'll give them this year to complete their submissions.
2008-12-30 [Artsieladie]: Ok. I just changed its featuring-to-d
2009-01-06 [Hedda]: Damn, damn... I'm late... I'll set up the voting tomorrow!
2009-01-06 [Artsieladie]: I can set up the poll, if you don't have the time. I certainly wouldn't mind. ;)
2009-01-06 [Hedda]: It takes no time. I'll fix after breakfast.
2009-01-06 [Hedda]: I changed the order of the submissions to group [Skydancer]'s entries together. I hope no one thinks I'm faking the history, but I don't think the order of the entries is important.
2009-01-06 [Artsieladie]: It must be 'after breakfast' now. hehe I don't see why the order should matter. In fact it seems more logical to place the entries of one person together. :P
2009-01-06 [Hedda]: No problem. It's mostly the sorting of the images into reference pictures that is a lot of work.
2009-01-06 [Lothuriel]: Ugh, I can imagine....
2009-01-06 [Artsieladie]: Ok, what are you doing with the poll for EPRM Feet Reference? Letting the voting continue or not? Just asking. ;) What about what's going on with the Medieval Smileys Contest? Do you think maybe that, that poll has been up long enough? ;)
2009-01-06 [Alexi Ice]: *sniffle* I only got to add like seven pictures on mine.
2009-01-06 [Hedda]: [Artsieladie]: I'll fix...
2009-01-06 [Skydancer]: [Alexi Ice] no one says you cannot keep adding images. In fact, it would be great if you did. Thats the point really to make resources for the artists here.
2009-01-06 [Artsieladie]: *nods in agreement with [Skydancer]* :)
Ok, [Hedda]. :) I wasn't sure if you may had forgotten about them, tis all.
2009-01-06 [Alexi Ice]: Awesome and I knew that...lol. ^^ I was just being silly. but yeah I am hoping to add more very soon
2009-01-06 [Skydancer]: I think its about time to start a stock and reference community wiki for Elftown artists, models, performers and Muses. Going to get a little complicated, but we can do it. Soon as I get done with my calendars I will start crafting the pages.
2009-01-06 [Manda Perfect Starlight]: i dont think any of these are really good.
but then again, i'm super critical.
2009-01-06 [Alexi Ice]: I know mine aren;t, my pictures are fillers for what I wanted to place on them when I lost my files...I will put up more later.
[Skydancer] - I think that is a good idea. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask.
2009-01-07 [Manda Perfect Starlight]: yours aren't that bad, they really arent none are terrible or anything like that. you had a great concept, but mid action photos take a lot of work and study. all the photos in this competition are great starts!
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: I know, I am not a pro like Skydancer ^^ I am working on it though, I need a better camera. You should join, it is a lot of fun!
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: grins, I am not a pro, more like an artist that uses a camera now and then. I just spend the time to figure out the best use of the tools. A pro is someone able to make a living from what they do. And while I am not unhappy, I don't think you would call my life living in the usual sense. :D
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: I thought you did make a living taking photographs? I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood. They just looked so professional with the backdrop and everything...^
2009-01-07 [Manda Perfect Starlight]: Yeah a good cam is def key!!
I don't use one of those big pro lenses or anything
I just have one with a good focus and changable
lighting options. its wasn't cheap tho...
lol
I"ve no idea what I would do midaction photos of.
its hard to find a good even around here..
and I look terrrible on camera so I wouldn't use
myself lol
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: I have a cheap digital camera that is so old Dinosaurs could probably work it! lol.
Well if you get any ideas, you should try it out. It is really fun, and there is another contest coming up soon so you can join that one, I dont remember the theme. but [heeda] wants any kind of reference photos, really.
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: :) I am a working artist, rather than professional one. I do not do any commercial work, nor do I sell my photographs to any commercial establishment, ie advertising, magazines, websites, etc. They are purely and only for the purpose of creating, or being "art". A pro photographer makes most of their money by selling the images they take, often to rather exploitive industries which is why they are always hungry for new faces and models, as the fresh is money in their pockets. I choose to not do that. :) I am happy you enjoy my work, and I try to do my art in a well crafted way. For me it is the life I choose to live, rather that my "job" :)
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: Awesome! That is the best kind of artist, one who is free to create as they wish and not chocked (I dont think I spelled that right....) by a 'boss' or some kind of contract. ^^ Someone who can do as they please with whatever medium they please.
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: for a great deal of the images you see from me lately, this is the camera I use. http://www.usa
I do have a quite decent set of gear in film cameras, but for this sort of work, film is way way too expensive. :)
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: Its a trade off of course, but it better for me than being in an office somewhere or always stressed out by deadlines and commercial interests that half the time I would not agree with anyway. I have in the past told someone to keep their money when what they wanted from me or my work was not in line with what I believe to be ethical. It was certainly legal, but the law, like any politics can be manipulated and often is not ethical.
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: I understand what you mean and it sounds like a wise decision, that is why I worry about being published. I don't want to be another corporate sell out..*sigh* but I do want the fame...It is a difficult choice.
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: Oh, I am working on being published, but as an artist, writer, not as a "photographer" :) Getting your own work published is quite different from selling your work commercially to then be used as they please. I retain control over my work and the ability to protect my models and subjects.
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: Really? That is cool. The publishing buisness scares me honestly.
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: Maybe look into self publishing. At least to get started. Lulu.com is one of many self publishing folk, but I know a number of artists that use it.
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: Cool, I will check it out. I have always thought about it but never did much reserch, I want to get my degree out of the way before making any huge decisions and start pushing my novels out on the world.
2009-01-07 [Christie Shadow]: I wish someone would have done a pic with someone jumping/landin
2009-01-07 [Skydancer]: Well, I am a bit heavy for that but if I can get one of my models over, I will see what I can do. I have some but they are not something I can release to public domain.
2009-01-07 [Khronos Atmosphaera]: The jumping thing would be neat. I'd like to do that. I'd like to do if from the sky >D
2009-01-07 [Alexi Ice]: Me ewither I just jump about a half an inch off the ground lol. im not athletic
2009-01-08 [jaraden]: you know, it's actually REALLY hard to decide on this one...
grrrrrr...
i gotta say, and amazing assortment of poses, all of which are fantastic not to mention extreemly helpful!!! i could certainly do with paroosing these photos for help on occasion!!
